Practicality of Analog Tools Against Their Digital Counterparts

A big part of why people prefer to have physical things like books is because they have always known their books to be in a physical form and might not necessarily want to have to adjust to something new. However, with the rapid rise of the digital counterparts of these analog tools comes a rapid increase in efficiency and usefulness of these digital tools. For example, it is so much easier to have tickets, credit cards, IDs, and so many more things stored all on your phone than having to carry each individual physical item separately.

Of course, the argument can be made of “Well what if you lose your phone or your internet/cell service goes down?”. Well, I can also ask “what if you lose your wallet?”. Both things can be true, but I think that it is so much easier to have information stored digitally and be accessed basically instantly.

Though I do think that the digital world has so much more potential for growth and efficiency than the analog world, I will say that I do really enjoy having certain things in physical form. To me, I really prefer having physical books over digital books. There is just something about having a book in my hands that I like more than having to read it on a phone or computer screen.

In all, I think that the digital world will continue to take over and expand to improve our daily lives, but analog tools will continue to be useful to many people and almost be nostalgic in a way.
